Route Diversion Between Boroughbridge and York
The route at Newton-on-Ouse (mile marker 98) remains closed after the recent heavy rainfall. Our suggested detour can be followed on the Way of the Roses map: after Aldwark Bridge continue to Youlton, then Tollerton (using the Alne road), go through Tollerton (along Newton Road) and keep straight ahead on York Bridge Road following signs for Shipton where the route is rejoined.
It’s fine at the moment but river levels are high and further rainfall could cause more flooding. The riverside path into York is clear of water but hasn’t yet been cleared of silt and debris.
